10to8 supports Stripe and PayPal for taking payments from your clients; they both allow your clients to pay you by credit card without creating an account. This guide will explain how to connect Stripe to 10to8.

Sections

10to8 can take payments from your clients online so that when their bookings appear in your calendar you can be confident that you have been paid.

To set up a Stripe account, visit the 'Set Up' > 'Taking Payments' page of your 10to8 account.

Select Stripe from the 'Take payments by:' drop-down menu and click the button to create a Stripe account. If you already have an account, you will be prompted to sign in.

Follow the instructions within Stripe to create your Stripe account. To hand, you'll need your phone number (for verification), your name, payment card number, CVC and expiry date.

Notifications of payment

Once you've registered with Stripe, log in to your Stripe account and choose how you would like to be notified of payments. Go to your profile at the top right corner and scroll down to the 'Notifications' section.

Under 'Email receipts' in the left-hand menu, you can see the email receipts that customers will be sent following their payments.

Payment processing fees

Stripe charges a small processing fee on transactions. See here for information on Stripe charges in your country. You will be charged via the account with which you registered.

If you're on 10to8's Free Forever plan, 10to8 charges a small transaction fee of 0.9% in addition to the standard Stripe charges. That's $0.009 for every $1 you successfully charge. There is no service charge on 10to8's paid plans.

What customers see

Customers won't ever have to register for a third-party payment software; they will book with you directly through your 10to8 online booking page. At the point of booking, your customers will be asked for their payment card details.

Please note: The cost for the transaction will be charged to the payment card you have linked to your Stripe account.

When they have successfully paid, customers will then receive a receipt from Stripe.

Currency

Stripe handles multiple currencies, including GBP and USD. Please see a comprehensive list on their site here.

Refunds/cancellations

You can easily process refunds via cancellations directly from your Stripe account. Sign into Stripe and navigate to the refund section. See Stripe's support pages for more info.

Setting Prices

Once you have set up Stripe as a way to take payments, visit 'Set Up' > 'Services' to configure prices for your services. You can set a different price for each service, and you can select whether to:

1) Just show the price but not charge

2) Allow the customer to pay, but allow them to skip

3) Force the customer to pay before booking

When a booking arrives in your Inbox, you'll be able to see that the client has paid in the details section at the top of the right-hand sidebar.
